ABOUT
Nils Henriksson (1993), composer and pianist.
I currently reside in Piteå (Swe) where Im earning a diploma-degree in piano at the International Contemporary Music Academy (Luleå University), with prof. Morten Landström and Norrbotten Neo (contemporary chamber-music).
I hold a bachelor and a masters-degree in composition from the Gothenburg Academy of Music and Drama (Swe), where I studied with prof. Ming Tsao and Ole Lutzow Holm.
My compositional work is focused on instrumental music, including solo, chamber and orchestral-settings as well as pieces for unspecified instrumentation or any number of players.
I have composed works for ensembles and musicians such as Musica Vitae, Mimi Tabu, 40-fingers, Konst:it, Gävle Symphony-Orchestra, Jonas Olsson, My Hellgren, Anna Pettrini, Heather Roche, Anna Svensdotter, Lisa Ullén (among others).
Former studies includes private lessons in composition with Thomas Jennefelt, workshops and classes with Klaus-Stephen Mahnkopff, Malin Bång, Juliana Hodkinson, Klaus Lang, and piano and improvisation at Skurups folkhögskola och Södra Latins Gymnaisum.
Since 2017 I'm pianist and artistic director of Ensemble Dasein, with whom I perform new works by young composers.
As a musician, I have performed a 20-century works by contemporary classics such as Feldman, Stockhausen, Cage, Cardew as well as pieces in collaboration with composers such as Veronique Vaka, Loic Destremau, Sigurdur Arni Jonsson, Lo Kristenson, Sebastian Ingvarsson, Steinar Yggeseth, Mads Emil Dreyer (among others).
Im currently working on a commission for Scenkonst Sörmland, for whom I'm appointed "Young Composer of 2019" along with Klara Striner.
